Your Adventure

Variety is the spice of life...

While you are learning new things, you will never feel confined by a classroom, or overwhelmed by assignments. Your assignments always have a purpose, and your involvement is elective. Your Chapter gets to call the shots on what you do, and you will always have a voice in that process.

Youth advocates have changed their communities by:

  • Creating awareness of youth issues like drunk driving and drug abuse
  • Holding candidate forums for local elections
  • Facilitating Juvenile Justice focus groups
  • Championing Diversity Trainings and Cultural Fair
  • Educating the public conflict resolution and effective communication skills
  • Hosting awards ceremonies to acknowledge positive work of community members
  • Spreading their passion and motivation, upholding their integrity wherever they go
  • Thinking, scheming, innovating, evolving, changing, and creating from their involvement in YA! and Beyond...

Finding a Cause and Sticking to it:

When Youth Advocates commit to a cause they are in it for the long haul. No matter what the issue is, Youth Advocates think critically, and plan with purpose to ensure the best possible product. Below, is a great example of this.

The Douglas Youth Advocate Chapter worked tirelessly in action planning, and leveraging local partner involvement to create a drunk-driving awareness event. Though it is a lot of fun to run an event like this, there was also a lot of preparation involved, and they should be very proud of their labor. Success!
